What is Nimotop (Nimodipine) used for?

• Reducing problems due to lack of oxygen caused by bleeding from a blood vessel in the brain. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
• Nimotop (Nimodipine) is a calcium channel blocking agent. Exactly how Nimotop (Nimodipine) works is unknown.

Do NOT use Nimotop (Nimodipine) if:

How should I use Nimotop (Nimodipine)?

Use Nimotop (Nimodipine) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Take Nimotop (Nimodipine) on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
• Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking Nimotop (Nimodipine).
• If you miss a dose of Nimotop (Nimodipine) , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

• Nimotop (Nimodipine) may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Nimotop (Nimodipine). Using Nimotop (Nimodipine) alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
• LAB TESTS, including blood pressure, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and laboratory appointments.
• Use Nimotop (Nimodipine) with caution in the ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to its effects.
• Use Nimotop (Nimodipine) with extreme caution in CHILDREN. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Nimotop (Nimodipine) during pregnancy. It is unknown if Nimotop (Nimodipine) is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while you are using Nimotop (Nimodipine).

• All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
• Diarrhea; flushing; headache; nausea.
• Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
• Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); black or bloody stools; depression; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; severe dizziness; shortness of breath; severe or persistent constipation; swelling of the feet or hands; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness or weakness; yellowing of the eyes or skin.
